Climate and Culture Coach

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you and your family. My name is Mrs. Delgado and I am the Climate and Culture Coach at Almeria Middle School. As a Climate and Culture Coach, I support students by checking in with students individually, providing small peer groups, helping students resolve any issues they may have with other students and/or adults, or facilitating community-building or restoring-community activities through Restorative Practices. I look to promote a safe and positive environment in both the classroom and on our school grounds. My role is to support and coach students, so that they build positive social skills, gain confidence interacting with others and learn how to deal with conflict constructively. 

In addition, our school offers small peer groups to help students build healthy relationships, provide strategies to deal with conflict in a positive manner, motivate and encourage students to set and meet personal goals for this school year and beyond. Small group sessions are short-term, 4-6 weeks, and typically meet anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes once a week. Students may be referred to me by an administrator, a teacher, a counselor, the student them self, and/or by their parent/guardian.
